Nothing but the Best

A great wisdom I have learned through beloved preachers, Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon:

God deserves the best in us!

Nothing to offer but the best. Nothing to say but “Amen!” and “With God’s help!”. With this by heart, I wish we could all have great days spent serving Him.

God bless,

UNTV Begins the Journey to its Tenth Anniversary with Fresh Charitable Services

Taking public service to a higher level has always been the job of UNTV, a television station commemorating its 9th anniversary this month. As the countdown towards the celebration of its first decade in broadcast industry commences, it launches its first wave of newest campaigns and projects.

Basketball Event for a Cause

The station’s avid followers are expected to fill the Smart Araneta Coliseum to witness the first-ever UNTV set on July 29. Public servants will take a break away from the office and celebrities will spend a “lights-camera-action-free” night for a basketball face-off intended to give entertainment and at the same time fund public charity programs for the winner’s chosen charity.

You can watch the event’s official video invitation here.

Quality Medical Services for the Indigents

Apart from the intensified free medical and dental services of UNTV, health coupons will also be distributed among the marginalized as a means for them to avail quality hospital services from UNTV-affiliated medical institutions.

According to BMPI-UNTV CEO Daniel Razon, this will be tied-up with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the local government units to help the station in identifying who the recipients of the coupons will be.

The station will also be partnering with the national government through its health insurance program, PhilHealth, to enroll qualified indigents in the said program. The annual premium needed to maintain a PhilHealth card will be paid by the station.

Taxi Drivers Turned Lifesavers

As part of widening the Tulong Muna Bago Balita campaign of UNTV, the public service channel also unveils Rescue Cab (Tulong Muna, Bago Pasada). On this venture, UNTV coordinated with taxi operators and tapped their cab drivers to be trained and be fully-equipped with rescue skills. The concerted effort between the taxi-drivers-turned-lifesavers and the station’s News and Rescue Team is seen to be helpful in reducing the increasing road accident statistic in the country.

New Intelligent Broadcast Alternatives

Accompanying the 9th anniversary celebration of UNTV is the launching of its newest television shows. The station is known for broadcasting intelligent alternatives— programs that are both informative and delightful, and are centered with the channel’s mission of delivering genuine public service. Soon, programs such as “Sinewikain”, dubbed as the first short clip festival on air, and “Justice on Air”, a show dedicated in discussing how equity and justice are governed by the country’s Department of Justice will be gracing the small screen. The all-new “Good Morning Kuya”, the station’s flagship program, will also be released.

Kuya Daniel: “We are expanding our public service initiatives”

With the digitalization of the UNTV’s broadcast operations, the station’s enthusiastic fans can all the more look forward for better journalism. Now that the one channel that gives priority to humanitarian services has turned nine and is just a year away to its tenth year anniversary in the tough broadcast industry, its avid supporters can all the more hope for more ground-breaking advocacies.

“We are expanding our public service initiatives. We want to reach more people. We have started with just a small scope- with the family which is the basic unit of society- and now, we are going community-wide. Then, we will expand to even bigger scope, Godwilling,” Mr. Daniel Razon remarked during the 9th year anniversary celebration last July 18 in Makati Shangri-La.

For this year, UNTV’s campaigns and projects will revolve around the theme “Inspiring Change, Building Better Communities”.

“You will kneel in awesome wonder when you read the Bible through,” says Bro. Eli Soriano, a man who has always been adamant in encouraging the people in reading the Holy Scriptures and translating into actions God’s teachings written on it.

It is a habit that has been long ignored, if not forgotten. But hey, why not give it a try? After all, it is the best-selling book of all time! 🙂

The Public Service Continues As UNTV Reaches 9th Anniversary

UNTV, the Philippines’ Public Service Channel, gives one big hint that the station is set to intensify its charitable programs and campaigns as it launches the theme for its 9th anniversary celebration this July, “Inspiring Change, Building Better Communities.”

The station in its budding years has already captured the hearts of many Filipino households. Deviating from the usual small screen banquet, it offers its own roster of intelligent alternative programs and innovative campaigns carrying its prime advocacy: tendering genuine charitable services to humanity.

Its program listing comprises a variety of television shows that are interesting enough to tickle our attention and inspirational enough to satisfy our appetite for enlightening and at the same time entertaining broadcasts. Some of its well-known programs include “Good Morning Kuya”, “Get It Straight with Daniel Razon”, “Manibela”, “Munting Pangarap”, “Klasrum”, “Polwatch”, and “Ang Dating Daan”.

UNTV is also the station that comes into the picture when talking about all-out public service. From the freely given medical, dental, legal and transport services to the inventive mobile-based clinics, educational classrooms and driving and livelihood academy to the ground-breaking Tulong Muna Bago Balita (Rescue First, Report Later) to the establishment of La Verdad Christian School and College, the only academic institution that offers 100% free education, it certainly covers almost all aspects of humanitarian development.

With its constant partners and supporters, including the Department of Education, Philippine Red Cross, and the Members Church of God International, the station under the supervision of UNTV-BMPI CEO and Chairman Dr. Daniel Razon has been well-versed in utilizing its scarce resources just to transform its vast vision of a better community into reality.

It has only been nine years, but looking back, UNTV has already touched and inspired many lives. Many households were delighted and informed with the station’s fresh television show alternatives. The marginalized were given medical, dental, legal and transport services for free. Batches of scholars were able to continue on studying through La Verdad Christian School and College. Many were rescued by the reporters, staff and crew who learned first-aid fundamentals via Tulong Muna, Bago Balita. The farthest areas were reached through the mobile-based innovations…You can just imagine how fruitful the next nine years for UNTV will be.

Indeed, with the coming opportunities, the avid followers can anticipate for a wider horizon of public services- may it be in the form of broadcasts or of charitable projects- all gearing towards social welfare improvement.

A Hark Back to MCGI’s 2nd Quarter International Thanksgiving

It was only Thursday last week. I was walking to and fro inside my room, checking in my mental list the things I need to prepare for the awaited Second Quarter International Thanksgiving of the Members Church of God International. Hours have passed,  I found myself amidst a queue at a van terminal heading towards Apalit, Pampanga— a place that has continually witnessed how every quarter, thousands would congregate to celebrate that very special occasion.

As I stepped out of the van after a peaceful one-hour ride, the evening breeze accompanied me until I reached the grounds of ADD Convention Center. Seeing my brothers and sisters in faith all set for the next days’ gathering, I cannot help but be exceedingly thankful. I am grateful that they are still there and I am still with them. We are still, under God’s grace, part of the fold who learned through the leadership of Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro.Daniel Razon that it is an obligation to give thanks.

Even before the Friday sun has risen here in the east, the brethren has already started to settle, and the eagerness to witness the commencement of the awaited festivity has filled the atmosphere. Opening the three-day revelry was a congregational singing and a prayer. As soon as the voice of the Bro. Eli was heard, cheers and applause roared from the crowd. I told myself, this is going to be an experience beyond compare.

From learning the deeper meanings of previously taught biblical truths to the unfolding of new wisdom, we, the congregants were surely guaranteed of delicious sets of spiritual dishes meant to edify our faith. And each time the overwhelming sensation brought by understanding a topic heightened, a thrilling drum roll will serve as our cue— we will stand up and rejoice. It is just right to offer songs and dances of praises to translate the gratitude we have in our hearts.

The glow in our smiles and joyous tears, and the twinkle in our eyes were not bound to wane. As more praise songs and dances were presented, they all the more brightened. As the portion where the story of how our faith has started in the humble Philippine islands and how it reached the foreign shores was narrated, they all the more lightened. Until the last minute of Sunday near-the-midnight hour, they remained.

I admit my words cannot capture all the pictures of that memorable celebration. But I do hope that with this small piece of writing, I was able to share even the thinnest slice of it.

Now, a week has swiftly passed and it is Thursday once again. God willing, eleven more Thursdays and I will be waking up once more to that Fridaywhich will mark the start of another three-day International Thanksgiving. Until then, I fervently wish of everyone’s wellbeing. May God bless us all!
